David Lurey’s energising vinyasa flow retreats attract a happy crowd to enjoy the yoga, chanting and general fun. Having spent so many weeks here with his retreats as well as Teacher Trainings at Yoga Rocks, he has quickly become part of the Yoga Rocks family.
David leads ingenious, themed retreats which in the past have focused on chakras, koshas and other yogic knowledge to add structure to the week. Morning vinyasa classes start at around 07.30 last around a couple of hours and build gently over the holiday. David’s energetic flows have an inner fire which demand a commitment and you’ll feel the physical effects of the asana as the week progresses!
Afternoon sessions vary year by year and group by group. David is one of a handful of teachers worldwide to have done a level II Acro Yoga Teacher Training so is well placed to lead the acrobatic and therapeutic acro yoga that sometimes play a part of the afternoon offerings. These days you might also enjoy some Thai yoga massage; a lovely chill out afternoon. Some years have been more Iyengar influenced while recently a training with Aadhil Palkhivala has illuminated some classes. David is ever evolving and constantly adding to his yoga knowledge. He’s maturing like a good bottle of wine so each retreat is more full bodied, mature and tastier than the one before.
Most evenings have a musical flavour with Mr Lurey lifting his guitar for some mantra singing under the stars out by the pool and one night normally a singalong.
