The lovely and caring Maria Boox, with over 30 years yoga experience, loves the Yoga Rocks atmosphere. She’s delighted to return to the South of Crete for her yearly retreat. We love having Maria with us for her heart felt take on the special and unique vibe of the ashtanga method. She is here for two weeks, you are welcome to join for either or both.
First qualifying with the Iyengar family, she found her true path in ashtanga yoga. After establishing, owning and running one of Sweden’s first ashtanga shalas for ten years, Maria opted for the open road teaching retreats and teacher intensives in beautiful locations, while nurturing her practice and encouraging others. She teaches traditional ashtanga and much more, regularly visiting India – the home of yoga. As time progresses she finds herself spending more time in Sweden nurturing herself and her dedicated students with regular workshops and a new, exciting year long deepening course.
The first morning is normally an epic led class so Maria can connect with the guests, many of whom she knows already so there is space and time to welcome newcomers. Normally after that morning classes are traditional self-practice style with extra help for those starting to feel their way through the practice. Anna Hennig is super sweet and supportive assisting and is available for extra bits of led asana when necessary. Three afternoons in the week, there will be more leisurely explorations of other aspects of the physical practice, as well as yoga philosophy and pranayama in the tradition of Kaivalyadhamma. Having recently explored this on a number of retreats with Shri. O.P Tiwari, Maria is excited to share deeper pranayama as part of the afternoon sessions passing on her passion for this amazing and sometimes underestimated practice.
